Digital Dental X-Rays
Dental x-rays are usually recommended when the dentist needs to have a clearer picture of what could be causing your toothaches, or when a better view of your teeth’s roots are needed for a specific treatment. At Audubon Dental Center, our digital dental x-rays provide clear and accurate pictures of the teeth, roots, gums, mouth floor, and palate so we can determine the best dental treatment for you. Our goal is to provide you with the best dental treatment and as such, we may require you to have a dental imaging exam to enable us to accurately identify the root cause of your dental problems, particularly those that are hidden from view.
Sometimes, digital x-rays are also prescribed by the dentist to see if you’re about to grow a wisdom tooth, or when a tooth is hidden underneath the gums. Prior to pulling out molars, dental x-rays may likewise be advised so the dentist can see if you have an impacted tooth. If this is the case, your dentist may recommend oral surgery to pull out the tooth.
As you can see, digital dental x-rays are a necessary part of dental treatments. However, not every visit to the dentist will mean that you will be required to get an x-ray. The dentist will only recommend this if they detect that there could be underlying issues to your dental problems.
Types of Dental X-Rays
There are several types of digital x-rays, depending on what the dentist needs to see. Briefly, these are the following:
Before recommending an x-ray, the dentist will take into consideration the patient’s age, as well as other risk factors. In some cases, dental x-rays are also recommended if the dentist suspects that the patient may have gum disease, or is a high risk for such a disease.
At Audubon Dental Center, we make sure that our digital dental x-rays are done efficiently and accurately so you won’t have to undergo the same procedure a second time to get it right.
