Clear the way for a brand-new tooth

Removing a tooth is never anyone’s first choice. Unfortunately, be it due to decay, damage, or improper development, sometimes extracting a tooth is the best option to restore a healthy smile.

At Audubon Dental Center of Clinton, we always explore all options before removing a tooth. We’ll use our diagnostic tools to ensure it is the best option, lay out the status of your oral health, and work with you to determine the best path forward. We’ll always explain our recommendations fully so you can make the right choice for you and your family.

Tooth extractions for a healthier tomorrow

A severely damaged or decayed tooth is actually worse for your health than no tooth at all. Because no support is given to your bone structure or remaining teeth, further damage can occur, including more lost teeth, bone loss, or other oral health problems.

If we determine that a tooth extraction is the best option for you, we’ll lay out what to expect and help you make the right choice. When it is necessary to extract a tooth, we perform extractions gently and ensure you are as comfortable as possible. We’ll be there the whole time to answer your questions and help you have a fulfilling experience.

Answers to your questions about extractions

How long does it take to recover from a tooth extraction?

After your tooth extraction procedure, you should plan on 2-3 days of rest. You should also arrange for a family member or friend to give you a ride after the procedure, since anesthesia will be administered. We’ll provide aftercare directions to help aid in recovery.
=

Do tooth extractions hurt?

While some patients experience some discomfort, we’ll do all we can to ensure you are comfortable, including numbing the tooth and surrounding area. We might prescribe some medication to help you manage pain after treatment.

Does insurance cover tooth extraction treatment?

While all dental insurance plans are different, many plans cover around 50% of extraction treatments. For more information about your individual plan coverage, contact our office!
